2019 Logging Season

A few photos from the 2019 logging season.

Tyler and I had a pony ride to Dorothy Lake. We loose-herded most of the stock because Willie went foot-loggin' down a different trail.

It's hard to take photos on horseback. Unfortunately they come out blurry a lot of the time.

We made it to Till Till Valley early, and Willie and I decided to log part of the trail up the mountain. It was a hellacious climb up, and when we got up there we decided we may as well finish the whole trail--so we wouldn't have to take the stock back up there the following day. We finished logging around 7PM, and were coming back down the switchbacks at 9:30PM. The moon was bright, but I could hardly see the trail. Luckily equines have better night-vision. You could see lights all the way in the central valley from up there.

When we got near the bottom, Tyler was riding Dirty Bastard up the trail. He said, "What the hell! I thought you guys were dead!"

A rare photo of Gil Guerrero. Getting ready to head out from Miguel Meadows.

Tomorrow mornin'
Swear to my soul
Gonna go cut me a hickory pole
And set right by the fishin' hole all day

Joshua Tree and The Mojave

Drove down to Joshua Tree to re-unite with Owen and Malcolm for New Years...

Caroline came out from Rancho Cucamonga to hang as well

A little cholla

One night, we went to Pappy and Harriet's to see Grateful Shred. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures--but they were great. This was our campsite outside of Pioneertown.

The backseat of Liz's truck got torn up by a bear last season in Yosemite. We went looking for a replacement at the junkyard in Twentynine Palms.

The weather was harsh in Joshua Tree--highs in the 40's and the wind never stopped whipping all day. We decided to boogie down to the Mojave Desert where it was a little warmer. Christian drove out from Utah and met us in Tecopa.

We dipped in hot springs, shot guns, and drank plenty of beer and tequila.

Stopped by Long Beach to see Jon and Shannon on my way home--ended up staying a few days.

I'm just a lonesome L.A. cowboy
Hangin' out, and hangin' on
To your window ledge, callin' your name

Florida y La Republica Dominicana

Flew down to Fort Lauderdale for Thanksgiving, and made a little side trip to the DR...

The trail to "Deep Hole" in Myakka River State Park

Deep Hole is a mysterious spot on the shallow Lower Myakka Lake. Fish get trapped here, and it attracts literally hundreds of gators and buzzards.
